Dr. Spyridon N. Papageorgiou
Senior physician in the Department of Orthodontics and Paediatric Dentistry at the Centre for Dental Medicine at the University of Zurich 

PD Dr Papageorgiou has been working full-time as a senior physician in the Department of Orthodontics and Paediatric Dentistry at the Centre for Dental Medicine at the University of Zurich since 2016. He completed his dental studies at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (GRE) in 2011, his PhD (summa cum laude) at the University of Bonn (DEU) in 2015 and his orthodontic residency also at the University of Bonn in 2016.
Since 2021, Dr Papageorgiou has been Visiting Senior Lecturer in King's College London (UK), in 2021 he received the Venia Legendi (Orthodontics) from University of Zurich, in 2022 he completed a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Orthognathic Surgery at University of Zurich and an MSc in Medical Research Methodology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
He has more than 170 publications in leading international journals and more than 10 chapters for textbooks. He acts as a reviewer for several journals and serves as an academic section editor. Dr Papageorgiou has received several major awards for his extensive work.
His main research interests include clinical effectiveness and efficiency of orthodontic treatment and evidence-based dentistry, which is based on systematic reviews using meta-analysis of randomised clinical trials. He is also interested in the causes of bias in clinical dental research and the impact of general health and systematic diseases on the biology of orthodontic tooth movement.
