Topic

Interaction of orthodontics and dental implantology

Young patients with agenesis of teeth or after tooth loss due to an accident, who are often still in the mixed dentition, are primarily cared for by orthodontists. At a certain point however, the question of a long-term provisional or possibly definitive restoration arises. This is where cooperation with prosthodontically active colleagues and interdisciplinary coordination begins. Mutual understanding, good dental coordination and clear communication with the patient, including active expectation management, now become enormously important.

My presentation uses clinical examples to highlight the most important steps and questions for planning these often complex cases. When do implant restorations make sense? Can a solution without implants also be possible or sought in selected cases? What are the concerns and expectations of our patients (and their parents)? How can we achieve the best result together? I look forward to a lively, collegial exchange with you
